This is just one of those shows that really resonates with me, it was one of the first good sounding tapes I acquired and it didn't leave my deck for about 6 mos. I had a very small collection and 9/27/72 was my first sbd. So I was ecstatic when Dick picked it. I've heard a lot of people say the other two performances were better, I won't argue, for me though, this show was really the first to just blow my doors off. It's why I love this band, there always something to suit anyone's taste.

I've always maintained it just doesn't matter if the 26th and/or 28th were better. THIS is the one with THAT Dark Star. 'Nuff said.

and...remember how hard it was to get tapes when you didn't have any? Or the excitement of getting a new show? It blows my mind to think that we have all this at our finger tips now, it was something we would talk about when we were sitting around getting high listening to shows. But, the best was when you got a show that you knew no one else had. 11/23/73 was my first like that. The guy gave it to me and told me not to tell anyone where I got it or to make copies of it. I didn't reveal my source, but I made about 1000 copies for my friends. ahh...the good ol' days.
